The subsidiary of Korean Air will now use the leading flight animation software CEFA FAS to guarantee flight safety and enhance pilot training

Based in Seoul, the low-cost carrier (LCC) decided to use the software CEFA FAS (Flight Animation System) for its safety department. It will allow to animate the data of its 30 aircraft.

A constantly growing low cost carrier

Jin Air operates a network of services within South Korea and Asia out of its main base at Seoul Incheon International Airport. It is the first domestic LCC in Korea to deploy and operate the Boeing 777-200ER. In total, the airlines owes 4 B777-200ER and 24 Boeing 737-800. With this fleet, the subsidiary of Korean Air operates flights to 6 domestic cities and 26 international destinations, also operating cargo services since November 2013. It has been continuously expanding its international routes including Japan, China, and Southeast Asia, and launched its first long haul route, between Incheon and Honolulu, in December 2015.

A common denominator for both companies: innovation and technology

“Innovation and technology are the key factors that have fueled South Korea’s economic rise over the past decades. Jin Air illustrates this mindset, as the first LCC to take off on long-distance routes. We, at CEFA Aviation, feel close to this. We constantly invest in R&D and in new developments. So we are more than happy to acquire Jin Air among our clients,” says Dominique Mineo, CEO and founder of the software company.

Safety, a top priority for Jin Air

“Jin Air makes safety a top priority and considers safety the most important factor in air travel. Jin Air will continue to invest in our safety, by strengthening our training and education through our safety operations,” says Jin Air CEO, Jung-ho Choi. Now CEFA FAS allows to better understand the causes of incidents, consequently having a positive impact on risk management.  According to Park Hyun Su, Director of Safety & Security Department: “We like the variety of features included in the software that enhances the communication within the airline. Among others, we like the possibility to overlap the trajectory of a plane and the nav chart. The animation video created through the software is a very realistic and helpful basis for pilot training.”
